Journal 5.3.2025 12.06 pm love is pain

Dear Journal,
Once upon a time the Buddha was invited by a very good king who sought his counsel. They got along very well and the king was very pleased. He finally wanted to introduce the Buddha to his wife saying he loves her the most. The Buddha told the king, "Love brings pain."
The king was aghast. How could a man as enlightened as the Buddha say a thing like that and he asked the Buddha to leave.
That night at dinner he discussed this with his wife and they discussed this with everybody and the Buddha's reputation was tarnished.
Finally when Buddha was teaching someone he explained this point with a fable that I don't remember.
Today at Jethu's kaaj I realised love is clinging and clinging always brings pain. That is why Buddhism is a religion of compassion not love. Now today I've understood this point. It was a miraculous understanding.
It's impossible to not love but compassion causes you to be understanding and make an effort. I love Arun. I know he loves me too but he doesn't like me. I'm not the kind of girl that pleases him. He would not be happy with me that is why we broke up. I realised it as a Truth coming out from Vipassana. He felt when we broke up that I'm not the one for him. He would never accept me the way I am.
Well, these are my thoughts right now. He likes his wife a lot. He always talks very lovingly about her. In a long long relationship it's very important to like the person. Since I know that Arun doesn't like me just the way I am and wants to change me or wants me to be something I'm not I should remember that love never dies but compassion is far more important as I realised today.
Now I'll go back to the kaaj.
Love,
Me.
