A prayer for humility

When my pride cost me dearly
I realised I had to kill my pride
And I begged God to make me humblest
Throughout the lands far and wide.
Since then it's been a while and
I've realised no prayer goes unanswered;
I have faced challenges so profound
That I've been left unencumbered.
Slanderers, naysayers, dream killers,
I've met them all and in my ordinariness
I remember that I've got a calling from God.
So, now I seek happiness as I eat humble pie
And friends to surround me, love to win
And I know that this will also be answered by God.
