My friend, we seem so different,
But we are the same,
Me from a seemingly higher station,
And you so maimed;
From you I must learn the treasures of the heart,
What do I have to offer? There isn't even a start.
"When the heart has won, you ve won it all,"
You told me then, causing my rudder to stall
And steer my boat on waterways higher,
And embrace life even when it seems dire.
On this day of brotherly love
I have no gift,
But a smile, and a Hi,
As through life we drift,
The waves and troughs holding our friendship in stead,
Let's end all bygones and look ahead,
As I take another jewel from your heart,
And adorn my poesies aimed like dart.
