Words

Words everywhere, words flow through me
And about me, sometimes in phrases,
Sometimes in sentences, sometimes
In whole treatises!
I consume words and I give gifts of words
With heartfelt wishes that are beyond any worth.
Oh Shakespeare you are so daunting and true
And oh Tagore you really understand the blues
And Wordsworth wordsmith that you are
Your boundless heart is where I find the universe!
Oh Carroll you are so weird, so funny
With eccentricities that I must learn to tolerate
And Ov and Bibhuti and all the rest
You also laid your head on Christie's breast!
I realise as you did so many, so difficult to recount
As I write in isolation ignoring distracting sounds
That you loved all the world all of you
So boundless were your noble hearts
But more than that you loved yourself
As I must also learn....
I burn the midnight lamp,
As I brush my teeth I decide
What words must I give today
That someday somebody will recite.
I am as ordinary as you were,
I also have my dreams
For like Poe said,
What if all we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream,
I vanquish doubts built on fears,
I give hope as I search my own,
I try to bring meaning to your reading
With my intention fighting alone....
I've suffered all you've suffered,
I've been vain and a bigot
And I've suffered rejection
Inviting dejection
But in your victory as I search
For meaning between your quilted lines
I find reason and decisions
And build deftly what I call mine!
Words I really love you!
Words of my very being,
Somebody's anchor,
Somebody's chicken soup,
My soul's tethering!
I can't give you up Oh word
Come what may -- love or despise
Because even though I live simply
You are to my life the spice!
Give me everything Oh words of my soul
As I invoke you each moment
Because you are all I have really
With love
And make me that better person....
